The full moon windows are the magic dates: 22 to 25 November, 21 to 24 December, 20 to 23 January and 18 to 21 February. The salt desert under a full moon is the photo everyone comes for. The Diwali week and the Christmas to New Year stretch pull the biggest crowds, while the dark moon dates suit stargazers, the desert sky turns properly black. Weekdays outside these windows give you the same Rann with half the queue.
Combining Bhuj and the White Rann
Dhordo sits 85 km past Bhuj, so the smart plan folds Bhuj city into the same trip: Aina Mahal, Prag Mahal and the Bhujodi craft village on the way in or out, Mandvi beach if you keep an extra day.
